I like social media..for the most part.  Twitter, Facebook, chat rooms.  It’s a whole new way for people to communicate with each other no matter where they are in the world.  It’s a cheap and fun way to let people know what’s on your mind, or to update a quick status on what you’re up to.

It’s also a way for chickenheads to cluck across the internet.  So I’m going to put this one in the “Just Not Manly” category, even though it applies to women too.

What the hell is going on with some of the people on Twitter and Facebook?  People lost their damn minds over that little blue bird.  Maybe because they can be anonymous with a fake name and not have to meet people, but that’s no reason to get stupid.  Women are all over the web claiming how much the love God with their ass hanging out; the Lord don’t need to see ya thong.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for having fun, but some of this stuff is just stupid.  One tweet I saw the other day from a Tweeter with a lot of followers said

First, she comes off like a drunk bitch.  Second, she comes off like a drunk bitch that makes her living on her knees.  Have some gotdamn self-respect.  I don’t understand what makes her think this is a good idea.  I’m not judging anyone…but she’s probably single and has been ran through like Adrian Peterson through the Minnesota Vikings offensive line.

That wasn’t an isolated incident.  Another one I saw from a young girl that said she wanted to ride a guy’s d*ck and lick the cum off.  The biggest problem I had was that Twit Pic looked like she was about 15.  At least she has a goal in life; most 15 year old girls just want to chase after Justin Bieber.

(Note:  I hate Bieber’s little punk ass, but I can’t knock his hustle.  He’s got about ½ a billion fans and Twitter followers, little boys and girls are putting his name in their screen names.  Can’t knock his hustle…but get a damn haircut.)

Fellas, you are not exempt.  Some of you are chickenheads, too.  Why does every dude who lifts two weights and gets a little bit of a pump feel the need to take his shirt off in his pic?  Cut that fruity sh*t out with that stupid stand-in-front-of-the-mirror-with-your-cell-camera-pose.  That is some really suspect sh*t.

Makes me want to go back to regular snail mail from the U.S. Postal Service.   It took forever to get a message across the street, but at least I didn’t have to worry about some idiot that wants to call himself YungSwole, or some other asshole standing looking tough in his bathroom showing his tattoos.  Moron.

There is an old adage in football that “speed kills.”  If you have a fast team you can do other things that other teams simply can’t.

However, I think greed kills even more.

We’ve all seen where a running back or wide receiver breaks away and a defensive back is left alone with him, coming full steam ahead.  Now the defensive back has two choices:

1. Tackle the player, wrap him up, make sure you put him down, and get your defense off the field.
2. Keep coming full steam ahead and lay a hit on him that will knock him out.

All too often I’ve seen the defensive back go for the “greed” play and try to lay the player out. That’s what would look better and make the highlights….and all too often, the offensive player just bounces off the hit and keeps on going to the end zone.

Greed kills a lot of things.  Greed can kill your “hustle” too.

I read a lot of blogs that encourage you to “go for self” and to do what works best for you.  That’s a good path to success…to a point.  Once you involve other people in your hustle (customers, partners, suppliers)  it’s not just your hustle anymore, no matter how much you may think so.  You may have control and be responsible for the decision making, but you have to take other people into consideration.  If you get too greedy and people think you aren’t looking out for them, they begin to look our for themselves.  Things begin to break down when others think they aren’t getting their fair share or you aren’t acting in their best interest.

The key is to reinvent the process so everyone looks towards the end goal.  Everyone has to believe that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.  That recipe works in life as well.

If you’ve ever seen the 2005 film “A Beautiful Mind”, you’ll know what I’m   talking about.  There is a scene where Nash (played by Russell Crowe) and his friends are in a bar trying to get at the prettiest girl in the place.  They almost get to be like crabs in a barrel, each man downing the next in front of her.  As you can guess, none of them get her attention.  Nash realized that by being greedy and looking out only for ones self would lead only to short term gain.  For lasting success, you have to get buy-in from others, and you only do that by putting others’ interest on par with your own.

(There has to be something to it.  It got Nash a share of the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences.)

The moral is don’t get greedy.  As soon as you thinking only about yourself, you’ll find yourself by yourself.

When I was a kid, I loved ripping through the Sunday comics (some papers don’t even have that anymore).  One of my favorite comics was “The Phantom”, who the natives called “The Ghost Who Walks.”  The Phantom started as a young boy named Christopher Walker, the only survivor of a pirate attack that was washed ashore on a Bengallan beach.  He swore an oath on the skull of his father’s killer to dedicate his life to the destruction of piracy and to be a hero for good with his sons and their sons to follow him. Making a costume based on the image of an old jungle idol, he became the Phantom. When he died, his son took over the role of the Phantom, and “The Phantom” was passed down generation after generation, leaving people to him the name “The Ghost Who Walks”, believing him to be immortal.

(Note:  Now I’m not here to debate how The Phantom had sons since there was no female love interest, what kind of dude walks around the jungle in purple spandex, how the costume never got tattered and lasted hundreds of years, or why a white guy had to swoop into the dark jungle to civilize the savages.  I’m just trying to make point.  Stay with me on this one.)

Now, no one with half an ounce of brain thought The Phantom was immortal, but what was more important is what he stood for.  The Phantom was a symbol, a legacy, something that would last past his natural life time.  Tales of his deeds would last long beyond his years.

Can you say the same?  Will people be talking about what you did long after you are gone?

Your life is finite, but what you do with your life defines how you live on.  The New York Yankees are a perfect example. As I wrote in another post (“Let’s Hear It For New York”), George Steinbrenner died, but his legacy through the Yankees will live on.  Love him or hate him, you know his legacy, and unless you’re a Sox fan, probably had a NYY ball cap at one time or another.

What we do in life determines how we’re remembered.  Our deeds will outlive our days.

Will you be remembered as a “Ghost Who Walks”?

One of the marks of being a man is being able to set aside differences for the greater good and focus on what’s important. We may not always agree, but we can co-exist.  That’s one on the hallmarks of this great nation of ours.  So I’m asking myself why the President’s religion is so important.

People are really making a big deal out of this because the President said that Muslim worshipers should be able to build their mosque two blocks from Ground Zero.  He said the government doesn’t have the right to dictate what religion does as long as they are within the law.

(Note: …and Obama’s right about that one.  They legally have the right to and they have the land to build it.  If the Jewish wanted to build a synagogue there and they own the land, mazel tov.  If Catholics wanted to build a church there and they owned the land, they can do that little sprinkle, sprinkle baptism thing they do all day long.  But I digress…)

Some people are using that an excuse to say that Obama’s muslim, which he isn’t.  He’s Christian.  The White House is coming out with releases saying that the President goes to church, abides by the Ten Commandments, and knows the New Testament front and back.  I’m saying they shouldn’t have to.

If Obama came out tomorrow and said that he was Muslim and chose to pray to the East five times a day…so f*cking what??? Does that effect his ability to do his job?  Does that effect his ability to lead the nation?  Does that hinder his ability to move us out of this depression we’re in?

Remember, George Bush is Christian, and he didn’t exactly lead us to the land of milk and honey.

We’re supposed to have freedom of religion in this country.  That’s one of the reasons the Revolutionary War was fought, to be free from oppression.  I’m not arguing if Obama is or isn’t Muslim; I’m arguing that you shouldn’t care.  Religious freedom shouldn’t stop at the White House steps.

You should care that he’s doing his job.  If you want him out because you think he’s making our standard living worse, I can respect that.  If you want him out because you think the reads he Koran instead of the Bible, you need to have your head checked.

I just want him to bring our boys home and lower my damn taxes.

You have to admire greatness.  You really do.  When a person tells you they’re going to do something and they do it, that’s not cockiness or arrogance…that’s confidence. That’s greatness.  Can’t argue that.  However, when someone tells you how great they are and then comes up lame when it comes time to prove it, well, that’s just not manly.

That’s why I have to give my latest tab of “Just Not Manly” to…Floyd Joy Mayweather, Jr., aka Pretty Boy Floyd, aka Money Mayweather.  C’mon down, Floyd.

Let me first say that I’ m a huge Mayweather fan.  Floyd Jr. is an awesome boxer.  In my opinion, he’s the best in the game right now, hands down.  He’ll tell you he’s the best in the game too. Not only that, he’ll tell you he’s the best of all time…

(Note:  I don’t even think HE really believes he’s the best of all time, and if he does he’s a fool.  He says that mainly for self promotion, and he’s good at it.  Floyd has a rich knowledge of boxing history and knows in his heart of hearts that Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest of all time.  I have Floyd Jr. in my top 25 or so, but no higher than that.)

The problem I have is that he’s talking a lot of sh*t right now, but he won’t step in the ring with the man many people say is the best right now, Manny Pacquaio.  Pacquaio fights like the Tasmanian devil throwing punches in bunches, but he can’t box for squat.  I think Floyd would, to paraphrase NFL great Lawrence Taylor, “beat the boogersnots out of him” by unanimous decision, and it wouldn’t even be close…but for some reason Floyd won’t fight him.  At first, it was the drug testing issue (Pacquaio is most likely ‘roided up) but now Pacquaio has agreed to the testing guidelines.  You’d think Mayweather Jr.  would jump at the chance to fight him, but he has, very uncharistically for him, stayed quiet.

Some say it’s because he’s scared to fight, but I don’t think so.  See they call Floyd Jr. “Money Mayweather” for a reason; he loves money more than anything else, even his legacy.  He once even said “you can’t spend your legacy,” and he’s right.  That’s why I don’t think he’s scared; Money Mayweather has at least 50 MILLION reasons not to be scared to fight Pacquaio, and that’s on the low end.  So I don’t get it.

It could be because his trainer and uncle, Roger Mayweather, is about to do time for sparring one of his female boxers without gloves in their living room.  Supposedly, he beat the crap out of her for some reason.  The Pacquaio fight would be the biggest fight of Floyd Jr.’s career, so I’m sure he’d want his team at full strength.  And I could understand that if that’s the reason…but Floyd hasn’t said anything.

Floyd, for your fans and fans of boxing in general, say something.  Better yet, say you’re ready to step between the ropes and give Pacquiao.  Hell, you fought the Big Show at Wrestlemania, so you can’t be sacred of this midget.  Please don’t tell me you talked all this sh*t and then turned b*tch when there was an opportunity to back up what you said.  That’s just not manly.

Sometimes a man has to step into the ring and fight.  It’s your turn now, Floyd.  Man up.

“There’s some great story tellers in the world…but who the f*ck could make THAT sh*t up?? – Charlie Murphy from Charlie Murphy’s Hollywood Stories on “The Chapelle Show”

Hey MAB readers.  I got a story to tell.  I didn’t happen to me but I thought I should share it with you in case you wonder why guys treat women like dirt. It’s usually because another woman messed it up for you all from the beginning.  I’m not saying it’s right in all cases..but it’s not wrong in all cases either.  Let me know what you think on this one.

A friend of mine, we’ll call him “Steve”, recently got divorced.  Steve’s been down in the dumps about it but decided that enough was enough and marched back into the dating scene. He got in contact with an ex-girlfriend of his; we’ll call her “Dumbass” (you’ll see why later).  Steve and Dumbass dated for a while before he got married.  They didn’t hate each other, but they weren’t going to be catching up anytime soon.  Steve decided to give Dumbass a call.  They talked a while and found out Dumbass was going to be vacationing in Steve’s area soon, so they decided to get together.  They had a great time and didn’t even think about anything sexual (smart move). They even talked about possibly starting a relationship again.  It seemed like things were going really well.  Dumbass was leaving soon to go on the last leg of her vacation at a Caribbean resort and invited Steve to come along for few days.  Steve jumped at the chance, packed a bag, and left.

Steve met Dumbass at a resort (a resort she used to work at) and they were having a great time until he noticed her dipping and dodging someone who turned out to be an ex-boyfriend.  He questioned why she would invite him to a resort where an ex-boyfriend worked, and it seemed like she still had feelings for him.  Steve starts thinking “WHY AM I HERE??!!”  He was already weary of the situation, but then discovered that TWO of her ex-boyfriends worked there (maybe she has a thing for cabana boys, who knows), one of which used to whup her ass on the regular.  Now Dumbass is crying her eyes, sobbing that she has some “unresolved issues” while she is telling her whole life story to Steve, who is now playing therapist and babysitter in a very uncomfortable situation.  Steve decides he’s had enough and decides to fly home.

Dumbass sends Steve a message thanking him for a good time and wishing him well.  Steve coldly (and rightfully in my opinion) replies that she can come by to get her bag that she left whenever she’s in the area and not to contact him again.  Trueman’s reply would have been a bit…different

Look b*tch, don’t darken my doorstep again.  You act like this and wonder why you can’t keep a man.  By the way, you left a bag here and I didn’t want you to have to pay for international shipping to have me send it back, so I threw it into the Atlantic Ocean.    If you hurry, you can probably fish it out somewhere around Jamaica, if whale hasn’t swallowed it first…ya bird b*tch.

Steve was an optimist and though that he could find the good in someone he once knew.  Me, I’m taking it as a lesson and a reason to turn vegetarian.  Messing with some half-baked chicken only makes two people crazy.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.  Just because something may look better doesn’t mean it is.  It’s rough all over right now.

When I took this job in Costa Rica, it looked like a great opportunity.  Hell, it still is, no real complaints.  I had the opportunity to experience another country and culture, all on the company’s dime.  No real negatives to speak of.  There were plenty of people that were happy for me.

There were also people that downed it, even some in my own family.  Don’t get me wrong, they were happy for me, but thought the opportunity was just another example of the falling of America.  They said I was helping my company grow in another country and take jobs, and that they couldn’t be as good as the people in the United States.  They said we were losing jobs and that eventually everyone may have to move abroad just to find work.  I argued back and forth about the topic, but I can understand their point.  The United States is losing jobs to other countries because of cheaper ,and in some cases, better educated labor.  My staff all have a bachelor’s degree, and at least 75% are pursuing their master’s degree.  Education is basically free here, financed by a higher tax rate.  The labor market in Costa Rica is becoming more and more attractive.

But that doesn’t mean that other countries aren’t feeling the pinch too.  If you follow me on Twitter (http://twitter.com/truemanmab), you know that I bought the paper this morning like I usually do…

…but his morning was a bit different.  I stuck my arm out the window, gave my colones to the Nicaraguan guy on the corner, got my paper, and we pulled off.  But a block up, another vendor, a Costa Rican woman, ran up to the car offering the same paper.  When I already told her I bought from the guy up the block, she cussed me out like no other woman has (that’s saying something too) for buying a paper from a “nasty” Nicaraguan.  She went onto say how Nicaraguans were taking all the jobs in Costa Rica, and that soon there wouldn’t be any jobs for any Costa Ricans.

Next time I see here, I’ll tell her to go up to the United States.  With the way things are going, there are plenty of jobs for her up there.  Then she can hear Americans complain how she’s taking their jobs.  It’s rough all over.

I have to admit that I almost didn’t want to blog about this one.  It’s a pretty serious topic, even though the path of how she got here was of her own doing.

Fantasia Barrino recently tried to commit suicide, according to several published reports.  She was messing with a married man, got caught up, and need to escape.  It’s sad to hear of anyone wanting to end their life…but she kind of put herself there.

I’m sure we’ve all seen movies where to cars race towards each other in a head on collision.  The camera usually pans back and forth between drivers until one of them loses his nerve and swerves to narrowly avoid the crash.  That’s called playing “chicken.”  Messing with a married man and being a homewrecker is like playing chicken.  That’s hard to do.

Chickenheads shouldn’t play chicken.  First, they’re usually not that smart.  Also, you have to be willing to crash, and they’re usually not.  That’s basically what Fantasia did by playing the role of sugar mama / sidepiece with Antwaun Cook, a married man from North Carolina.  Fantasia tried to play chicken when she didn’t have the nerve (or the brains for that matter) to keep it up.

Fantasia first completely denied the relationship, going on record as saying…

Yes, [the rumors] were all really cute to me. I guess it was something about a guy from T-Mobile? Inaccurate. He was hot, but I think I’m looking for my own man. There’s no boo in my life, I’m married to my career. I have no tattoo on my shoulder… As a matter of fact, I’ve never even [met him] before. I think I’d want to be with a guy who’s in the same tax bracket as I am … or higher!

That turned out to be a lie.  And I don’t understand the “tax bracket” comment.  B*tch, you’re not Alicia Keys trying to take Swizz Beats from his family.  You had one hit song, and you remixed it twice.

(Note:  Some advise for Fantasia.  Before you deny knowing Antwaun or having a tattoo of him on your shoulder, make sure you cover it up at photo ops, ya bird b*tch…)

But Fantasia kept up the lie…until the pictures of her and Cook, the married guy she was seeing, on vacation together in Barbados. Again, she was playing chicken but was in no position to keep going so she had to swerve again, saying now that she did have a relationship with Cook, but only because he led her to believe that the marriage was over.  Now that just sounds stupid to me….and just about everyone else.

Antwaun Cook’s wife, Paula says that she has some kind of sex tapes of Fantasia and Antwaun.  That’s can’t be good for the divorce proceedings or for Fantasia’s career.

Now she attempted suicide and was found in her closet slumped over.  I don’t wish that on anyone…but if you handled your business a little bit better, you wouldn’t be in that situation.

Get better soon, Fantasia, and take care of home.  But keep ya chickenhead ass away from married men if you don’t know what you’re doing.

That hotbed of breaking news, TMZ, has reported that Montana Fishburne has decided to make a hardcore porn movie to make her big push into Hollywood, but you have to think that in some ways, this is daddy’s fault.

Lawrence Fishburne needs to look himself in the mirror and ask himself a few questions.

“What did I do wrong?  What did I do to make Montana think that teabagging men on camera is a good resume padder? What did I do to make her think that Kim Kardashian is a good role model? Dear Lord, what did I do to make my daughter wanna be a HO??!!”

Montana, who is taking on the porn name “Chippy D”,  is also quoted in the TMZ article as saying, “The first time is really nerve racking … but, I have a lot of at-home experience.”  Basically you just told the world you’re a skank.  Samuel Jackson is probably somewhere putting his arm around Lawrence Fishburne right now saying, “Man, I thought I had a f*cked up past…”

(On another note, what black man names his daughter Montana?  That’s like Piper or Madison.  That’s a new one on me, but I digress.)

In “The Matrix”,  Morpheus, played by Lawrence Fishburn, offered Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) the choice to continue his cushy existence by taking the green pill or to wake up to reality by taking the red pill.  I bet even Morpheus would really like a green pill right now.  F*ck knowing the truth.  F*ck the sentinels, the Oracle, and the Matrix.  F*ck Keanu Reeves and his long black trench coat.  Give him the green pill.  He needs to go back to fantasy land when his little girl didn’t want to make Deepthroat part 2.

Lawrence, I gotta give you a label of “Just Not Manly”, but I do so with a heavy heart.  I promise to give Montana a great review in her film debut
